CASE STUDY: Foundry - Sand Casting
Like many foundry operations, the company was having noise level problems at its Texas and Pennsylvania plants. As the fan housing units collected dust from the interior of the plant, the units produced high decibel noise levels. The company was desperately in need of a thick, protective lining capable of lowering ambient noise levels. Prior to utilizing Rhino Linings® in its Texas and Pennsylvania plants, the company had recorded average daily noise levels of approximately 114 decibels.
According to the OSHA official that inspected the plant, Rhino Linings reduced the company’s average noise levels to 58 decibels—a 50 percent reduction. Because of Rhino’s thick, durable, protective linings, the company was able to achieve significant sound attenuation in its operations, protecting its employee’s hearing and increasing plant productivity. The company also realized a reduction in downtime and maintenance costs because Rhino Linings could be economically re-applied as needed.
